Saltbuster® is dye free (clear in color). We don't want any unnecessary dyes or synthetic colorings, or perfume chemicals around our factory, and neither should you. Municipalities and building officials are increasingly concerned about any chemical runoff. We won't add any synthetic dyes or coloring (blue, green pink) to make SALTBUSTER® look pretty. The coloring may seems harmless, but if you are working with this everyday and absorbing these dyes into your skin, it may cause issues. We care about your health, our employees health, and the environment.
"Synthetic dyes in cleaners can be harmful, offering no cleaning benefit and acting solely for aesthetic appeal. They are frequently linked to skin irritation, allergic reactions, respiratory issues, and potential toxicity, with some containing contaminants associated with cancer, such as heavy metals."
FAQ questions about SALTBUSTER®:
Q: How is SALTBUSTER® applied?
A: You can use any inexpensive foam cannon spray gun, pump up garden sprayer, pressure washer, spray bottle, etc. SALTBUSTER® is highly concentrated, so when mixed, just add about 1+1/2 ounces to a gallon of water. If using a foam spray gun you would usually set it on the lowest mix ration setting. Let it sit for a few minutes, and rinse off.
Q: Is SALTBUSTER® safe on ceramic or wax coatings?
A: Absolutely. SALTBUSTER® is PH neutral and is safe for all automotive and marine applications.
Q: Do I have to rinse off the SALTBUSTER®? My garden hose is off, or frozen in the winter.
A: We strongly recommend washing off the SALTBUSTER®, as the intention is to free the salt from the metal surface and rinse it away. Even though SALTBUSTER® is PH neutral, and safe for surfaces, the objective is to rinse off the salt.
Q: How often should I apply SALTBUSTER®?
A: Probably at the end of the salt/snow season every year is adequate. If your vehicle is undercoated with Woolwax® any salt on the undercarriage will only be on the outer shell of the coating, and will not be able to cause any damage. Many people prefer to rinse their vehicles with SALTBUSTER® after every storm. Many municipalities and fire departments also rinse often. It is really a matter of preference. Many people just don’t like the idea of the salt being there. And being that a full SALTBUSTER® treatment is only about $1.50, they feel better about rinsing it often.
People tell us all the time that they do not like going to a car wash because of the brushes, or the recycled salty water they use. They use SALTBUSTER® on the outside of the vehicle to get the salt off. Water alone will move the salt around. But there is always some "white chalky" residue left. SALTBUSTER® will get rid of that salty residue.
Q: I saw on the internet that baking soda or vinegar neutralizes salt?
A: Yes, Baking soda does have some very mild chelating properties. It’s probably best to save baking soda for brushing your teeth, and use an industrial chelating formula like SALTBUSTER to provide protection for your vehicle. Let’s do the math. SALTBUSTER® is about $.22 cents an ounce. That would be about $1.32 worth of SALTBUSTER® concentrate, mixed with water, to treat an entire vehicle. Baking soda is not safe for car wax and can damage the paint finish, as it is a mild abrasive that will strip away wax, sealant, and potentially scratch the clear coat. While effective for cleaning stubborn dirt or restoring hazy headlights, it is too harsh for regular car wash routines and can dull the paint. For less than $1.50 it probably makes sense to use a proven formula like SALTBUSTER® that was made for that purpose, instead of baking soda that is primarily used for baking bread and brushing your teeth.
SALTBUSTER®
At Woolwax we try to offer the very best value. On this formula there is not much to it. It's basically a jug of water with a few simple additives to render the salt residue harmless Some of the competitive products are ridiculously overpriced ($65?). Think about it. A gallon of Zep purple degreaser is only $19.95. Plus $15 to ship it. $35 all in. That's all it's worth. It's 70%+ water ! Saltbuster is the best value in the industry. Don't overpay for the over-hyped brands.
Highly Concentrated formula 1:100. Just mix about 1.25 oz. of concentrate per gallon of water.
One gallon jug concentrate will make 100 Gallons.
2.5 gallon jug concentrate will make 250 Gallons.
Five gallon pail concentrate will make 500 Gallons.
One Quart bottle concentrate will make 25 Gallons.
An average flush/washing uses about 4 gallons total.
PH neutral. Environmentally friendly and biodegradable. Very proudly Made in U.S.A.
Water alone will move salt around. A salt neutralizer formula like SALTBUSTER uses the process of "chelation" to break down the salt so that it can no longer cling to metal surfaces and cause corrosion. It is not a scam. It works well.
Is our Woolwax Salt & Brine remover better than other brands?
We had the (3) top selling brands deformulated to see why they were so expensive (it's mostly water), and what the differences were. They were all almost identical. Nothing special in any of them. They all provide chelation using the same materials. However, some are much less concentrated than others, and therefore make much less product when mixed. Saltbuster is a 1:100 ratio. Some of the other competitors are not concentrated at all.
Flush your vehicle with Saltbuster and the salt will be gone.
How does SALTBUSTER work?
Salt cannot be made chemically neutral. However it can be rendered harmless so that it cannot cause any corrosion. Thus the more layman's term of "neutralized". Neutralized in the aspect that it can no longer cause any damage. This is done by adding chelating agents, and the process of chelation. Chelation effectively stops rust by chemically "grabbing" iron ions from rust (iron oxide), converting them into a water-soluble complex that can be rinsed away. SALTBUSTER contains chelating agents to effectively render any residual salt harmless. Neutralized.
Think of it in the movies when they "neutralize" someone. To "neutralize someone" means to render them ineffective or harmless, stopping them from being a threat, which can range from non-lethal restraint (like subduing someone) to lethal force (killing them), often used in military or law enforcement contexts as a euphemism for killing or incapacitating a dangerous person. So you see, "neutralize" can have different meanings, but the net result is the same, To render harmless, as SALTBUSTER does to salt and other damaging chlorides.
This new heavy duty 5 Gallon jug is awesome for any shop. Complete with faucet for easy pouring. This very heavy duty five-gallon carboy container with an EZ pour faucet seems to be perfect. Our fleet service centers that have tested this tell us that it is an all out “winner”, and so much easier on their employee’s backs. Just put it on a table, shelf, or rolling cart, and never lift it.
